Federal HR 34- Support - The Safe Students Act

I stand with Firearms Policy Coalition in support of HR 34 - The Safe Students Act

HR 34 repeals the Federal Gun Free Zone Act in an effort to protect our children from those who would use gun free zones as a means to commit violence where the victims are defenseless, and protect the law-abiding from unnecessary criminal liability.

The only thing gun free zones have ever done is create a target rich environment for terrorists and the criminally insane by ensuring that there are no law-abiding citizens carrying firearms to fight back. 

Today, more than 20% of U.S. States now have some form of permitless carry ( and that number is likely to grow this year),  however due to the GFSZA Act's 1000 foot rule, people in urban and suburban areas risk criminal liability as this law creates an overlapping web of zones that extend over every place in their everyday life, creating a de facto total ban on those who are otherwise lawfully carrying-- openly or concealed-- all while acting in conformity with their own state laws. 

Please keep our children safer by passing HR 34.
