Block the Sale of Weapons to Saudi Arabia
I’m writing to ask that you work to block the sale of additional weapons to Saudi Arabia that was recently announced by the Obama administration. Selling additional weapons to the Saudis while they continue to bomb Yemen is throwing fuel on fire of a humanitarian crisis that the United Nations has called a “catastrophe.” Both Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch have called on the United States to stop supplying Saudi Arabia with weapons they are using to destroy Yemen and kill thousands of innocent Yemeni civilians. Yet the Obama administration continues to enable additional death and destruction by approving even more weapons sales to Saudi Arabia. Saudi Arabia is is a major exporter of Islamic extremism worldwide. Internally, the Saudis oppress religious minorities, women, LGBT people and non-violent dissidents. Yet the United States continues its unquestioning support of this repressive, totalitarian regime. Congress has the power to stop this unwise and immoral sale of weapons to Saudi Arabia. I ask that you use that power and act to block the sale immediately. I look forward to hearing your thoughts on this matter.
