Please include the rights of Palestinian people in the Platform!
To: Rep Cummings and Rep Lee Dear Rep Cummings and Rep Lee, Thank you for the hard work you are doing as Chair of the DNC Platform Committee. We have great hopes that the Committee will come up with positions that will further the goals of greater peace and justice in our country and our foreign policy. To that end, I am writing to urge you to include language in the Platform that recognizes the rights of the Palestinian people, calls for an end to the occupation of the West Bank and the siege of Gaza, and recognizes the right of individuals, organizations and companies to boycott Israeli products until Israel complies with international law by ending the occupation. The non-violent Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement follows in the footsteps of other impactful social justice campaigns. From the Montgomery bus boycott of the Civil Rights Movement, to the divestment movement in response to apartheid in South Africa, BDS tactics have a long history of inspiring social change in America and around the world. The American public no longer favors unconditional US support for the state of Israel and its ongoing gross violations of human rights. We call on you to include support for Palestinian human rights, an end to the occupation, and BDS in the official position of the Democratic Party. Signed,
