It's Time for a Fair Work Week!
Mayor Dianne Martinez and Council Members Asher, Donahue, Atkins and Davis, When you signed the minimum wage law into effect nearly a year ago, you made a commitment to lifting up workers in Emeryville to be able to lead healthy, livable and sustainable lives. You knew even then that a living wage was not enough to create that – workers need fair wages and fair hours. It's time to finish the job you started. With chronic underemployment and vastly unpredictable schedules leaving families squeezed – its time for a Fair Work Week NOW! 230 Emeryville resident voters have already signed the petition in support of a Fair Work Week. That’s why I’m writing today to call on you to schedule a study session on Fair Work Week no later than May 10th! The clock is ticking to the August recess and time is running out… we need livable and predictable schedules now! Host a study session on Fair Work Week no later than May 10th this spring!
