Support the Voting Rights Advancement Act of 2015

As an Arab American constituent, I urge you to support the Voting Rights Advancement Act of 2015, and protect the right to vote.
 
After the 2013 Shelby County v. Holder decision, 10 of the 15 states that were previously covered by Section 5 introduced legislation that would make it more difficult for minority voters to cast their ballot. Since the beginning of the 2015 legislative session, over 113 bills that would restrict voting access have been introduced in 33 states.
 
Without this updated, data-driven Section 4 formula, this assault on voting rights will continue.
 
In his Shelby County opinion, Chief Justice Roberts faulted Congress for not updating the Section 4 clearance formula. In the two years since his opinion, Congress has failed to answer the call to update the Section 4 formula. Now is the time to act and restore this historic piece of legislation.
 
The 2016 election is the first Presidential election in 50 years where voters will not have the full protection of the Voting Rights Act. I urge you to support the Voting Rights Advancement Act of 2015, and protect the right to vote
