Thank you for supporting drivers

I'm writing to thank you for supporting drivers who are trying to win a voice at work.  
Your vote on October 2 to move legislation out of the Seattle City Council's Finance and Culture Committee puts drivers one step closer to dignity and respect on the job.  Dignity for drivers means that thousands of working people in our city who are struggling to make ends meet will have the opportunity to improve their lives. 
Seattle has always been on the forefront of social and economic justice.  Last year, we passed historic legislation to raise the minimum wage to $15 per hour for low-wage workers.  In 2012, we were one of the first cities in the country to ensure that working families have access to paid sick leave. 
Now we are at a critical juncture again.  I urge you to enact groundbreaking legislation that will help address changes in our economy that have left too many drivers in our city's transportation industry without basic workplace rights and protections.  This legislation would strengthen the middle class by restoring workers’ rights to bargain for better wages, benefits, and working conditions. It is good for workers, good for community, and good for the City of Seattle.
