Immediate action needed, oppose HB 215!
HB 215 will force doctors to report unnecessary details about every minor who has an abortion. The state already collects and publishes information on how many judicial bypasses (allowing minors’ abortions) are granted each year.
These new requirements could expose the identity of the minor, her physician and the judge who granted the bypass. The information would be kept in her medical record and seen by state health department officials. Clinics would also have to report if their personnel told minors about the judicial bypass option and whether they provided any assistance to teens interested in a bypass.
HB 215 has been reported favorably out of the House State Affairs Committee and sent to the Calendars Committee.
