T ~~—————~~ ~~Patron—Pillion~~ R ~~—————~~ WHEREAS, the Abingdon High School softball team capped off an undefeated season by securing the O D team's first-ever state title with a victory in the Virginia High School League Class 3 state championship in 2026;

N + + R + O Agreed to by the Senate, June 22, 2026 L WHEREAS, the Abingdon High School softball team capped off an undefeated season by securing the L team's first-ever state title with a victory in the Virginia High School League Class 3 state championship in E 2026;

and U WHEREAS, the Abingdon High School Falcons were dominant throughout the season, winning the Mountain 7 District championship and the Region D championship on the road to the state tournament;

and WHEREAS, the Abingdon High School Falcons were dominant throughout the season, winning the D Mountain 7 District championship and the Region D championship on the road to the state tournament;

and C WHEREAS, in the state final, the Abingdon Falcons racked up seven runs before the defending E champions from Broadway High School could even get on the board and ultimately won by a score of 7–3;

D and WHEREAS, despite being one of the smaller schools in Class 3, the Abingdon Falcons, who finished with a 29–0 overall record, quickly became known for their powerful offense, staunch defense, and exceptional pitching;

now, therefore, be it RESOLVED by the Senate of Virginia, That the Abingdon High School softball team hereby be commended on winning the Virginia High School League Class 3 state championship in 2026;

and, be it RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to S Chelsea Campbell, head coach of the Abingdon High School softball team, as an expression of the Senate of R Virginia's admiration for the team's historic achievements and best wishes for the future.
