Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:

Section 1.
2 On page 1, delete lines 3 through 6 in their entirety and insert the following:

to increase the number of judges serving on the first circuit;

The Court of Appeal for the Fourth Circuit, domiciled in the cityof New Orleans, shall have twelve ten judges.

Eight Seven judges shall be elected from the first district of the fourth circuit bythe qualified electors thereof.One judge shall be elected from the second district bythe qualified electors thereof.

One judge shall be elected from the third district by the qualified electors thereof.

Two judges One judge shall be elected from the circuit at large by the qualified electors thereof.

No provision of this Act shall deprive anyjudge in office of the abilityto serve the entire remainder of his or her term.

To effectuate the provisions of this Act, no further elections shall be held for Division G of the first district of the fourth circuit or for the at large seat currently held by Chief Judge Roland Belsome with a term expiring on December31,2031,whetherattheendofthecurrenttermorduetoavacancycausedbythe death, resignation, retirement, or incapacityof the judge.

The Court of Appeal for the First Circuit, domiciled in the cityof Baton Rouge, shall have twelve thirteen judges.

Four judges shall be elected from each of the three districts composing the circuit by the qualified electors of each district, respectively.

However, in the first district, one judge, Division C, shall be elected from election section one by the qualified electors of election section one, and one judge,DivisionA,shallbeelectedfromelectionsectiontwobythequalifiedelectors ofelectionsectiontwo.
This Act shall become effective upon signature bythe governor or, if not signedbythegovernor,uponexpirationofthetimeforbillstobecomelawwithoutsignature by the governor, as provided by Article III, Section 18 of the Constitution of Louisiana.
TheremainingtwoTwojudgesinthefirstdistrict,Divisions B and D, shall be elected by the qualified electors of the entire first district.
If vetoed bythe governorand subsequentlyapprovedbythe legislature, this Act shall become effective on the dayfollowing such approval.
The remaining judge shall be elected at large from the third district of the first circuit." AMENDMENT NO.
