<BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives supports the State of Israel’s sovereignty and right to defend itself against terrorist organizations, including by taking necessary actions to eliminate such threats.
WHEREAS, Iowa and the State of Israel have enjoyed a longstanding and robust partnership rooted in shared democratic values, a dedication to freedom, dignity, and justice, and mutual respect for the rule of law;
However, this support is conditioned upon the State of Israel’s adherence to international humanitarian law and protection of innocent civilian lives.
and WHEREAS, Iowa and the State of Israel share a deep cultural and religious connection, as Iowa is home to vibrant Jewish communities whose ties to Israel are integral to their heritage;

and WHEREAS, Iowa’s communities have cultivated a longstanding and meaningful partnership with the Western Galilee region of Israel through cultural, educational, and humanitarian initiatives and recognize the profound impact the recent conflict with terrorist organizations has had on the Western Galilee region, LSB 2283YH (8) 91 -1- sc/ns 1/3 H.R.
3 its residents, and Israeli society;
and WHEREAS, Iowa stands in solidarity with the victims and families in Israel affected by the horrific attack on October 7, 2023, by Hamas, a radical terrorist organization, and fervently hopes for the safe return of all remaining hostages taken on that day;
and WHEREAS, the economic partnership between Iowa and the State of Israel has flourished over the years, fostering collaboration in areas such as agriculture, insurance, technology, and education;
and WHEREAS, Iowa’s agricultural heritage aligns with the State of Israel’s innovative advancements in water conservation, irrigation, and food production, creating opportunities for mutual growth and innovation;
and WHEREAS, the State of Israel is a vital ally of the United States in the Middle East, playing a key role in promoting stability, democracy, and peace in the region;
and WHEREAS, Iowa remains committed to supporting the State of Israel’s sovereignty and absolute right to exist and defend itself against terrorism and threats to its people;
and WHEREAS, the people of Iowa stand in solidarity with the Jewish community in Iowa and across the world, denouncing all forms of antisemitism;
and WHEREAS, Iowa values its enduring friendship with the State of Israel and acknowledges the importance of continuing to strengthen this relationship for future generations;
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES, That LSB 2283YH (8) 91 -2- sc/ns 2/3 H.R.
3 the House of Representatives reaffirms its unwavering support for the State of Israel and its people;
and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives celebrates its shared values and mutual interests with the State of Israel, emphasizing the importance of continued collaboration in economic, cultural, and technological endeavors;
and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives encourages Iowa’s residents to engage in educational and cultural exchanges that deepen understanding and appreciation of the partnership between Iowa and the State of Israel;
and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives condemns any form of antisemitism, terrorism, or violence that seeks to undermine the State of Israel’s security or the well-being of the Jewish community in Iowa and Israel;
and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives supports the State of Israel’s sovereignty and right to pursue, without interference or condemnation, the elimination of any terrorist group until all such groups are permanently neutralized and Israelis can live in peace.
