A BILL TO BE ENTITLED AN ACT Relating to commercial driver licenses;
to require the Alabama State Law Enforcement Agency to issue a Hazardous Materials Endorsement in certain circumstances.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA:
Section 1.
(a) The Alabama State Law Enforcement Agency shall issue a Hazardous Materials Endorsement or renew an existing Hazardous Materials Endorsement to an individual who holds a valid Transportation Worker Identification Credential issued by the federal Transportation Security Administration, provided the agency verifies that the Transportation Worker Identification Credential is valid, and the expiration date of the Hazardous Materials Endorsement is no later than the Page 1 HB404 INTRODUCED existing Transportation Worker Identification Credential expiration date.
(b) The Alabama State Law Enforcement Agency may adopt rules to implement this section.
Section 2.
This act shall become effective on the first day of the third month following its passage and approval by the Governor, or its otherwise becoming law.
