Whereas,and GrassrootsWHEREAS, WeekThe isterm a“grassroots” weekrefers to appreciate,movements highlight,which andmobilize honormasses precinctto delegatesparticipate andin grassrootspolitics; leaders throughout the state of Michigan;

and Whereas,WHEREAS, AGrassroots healthymovements democracyare requiresoften participationorganized fromby everyeveryday person;people rather than elected leaders;

and Whereas,WHEREAS, ThePrecinct termdelegates “grassroots”represent refersthe tosmallest movementslevel whichof mobilizeorganization massesin toour participatedistricting insystem; politics;

and Whereas,WHEREAS, GrassrootsThese movementsdelegates aremust oftenbe organizedresidents byof everydaytheir peopleprecinct ratherand thanact as the link between their community and their elected leaders;party;

and Whereas,WHEREAS, Precinct delegates representare often the smallestprincipal levelorganizers of organizationgrassroots work in ourtheir districtingneighborhoods, system;calling upon their network of connections to move forward a worthy cause;

andnow, Whereas,therefore, Delegatesbe commitit themselvesRESOLVED toBY manyTHE importantSENATE, duties,That includingthe registeringmembers theirof neighborsthis tolegislative votebody andrecognize electingJune candidates23-29, in2026, partyas conventions,Grassroots supportingWeek. the preferences of their precinct;

and Whereas, Precinct delegates and grassroots organizers deserve recognition for their sacrifice of time, energy, and passion, all of which are essential for building participation in our democracy;

now, therefore, be it Resolved by the Senate, That the members of this legislative body recognize June 23-29, 2026, as Grassroots Week.

and be it further Resolved,RESOLVED, That we encourage every Michigan resident to express their gratitude for precinct delegates’ active engagement in our democratic process.
