BLM-2016-0001-0001 Proposed Rule: Waste Prevention, Production Subject to Royalties, and Resource Conservation
The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) is taking public comment on the their newly proposed standards for cutting dangerous methane pollution from fracking operations on public lands. These rules are part of the President’s Climate Action Plan and Strategy to Reduce Methane Emissions, and will work as a complement to the EPA’s standards under the Clean Air Act to reduce methane pollution from the oil and gas sector. We will continue to advocate for an end to the BLM's federal leasing program of public lands to fossil fuel developers, and in the meantime, we need to see measures implemented to stop the leaks, flaring and venting of methane from existing fracking operations.
How you can help: Please send a letter to BLM today! And please plan to attend and testify in support of the proposed rules at the hearling in Lakewood on 3/1.
